HISTORIC HERITAGE HOTEL
Oms Home Story
In 1976 Bishnu Raj Hirachan and his wife Lal Kumari Hirachan, a Thakali couple from the village of Marpha, started Om’s Home with five rooms. Today the hotel has expanded to include two dozen rooms, a bustling restaurant and a cosy coffee shop where the barista doubles as the in house musician. Since its establishment, Om’s Home has been a home away from home for hundreds of guests from across the globe. The hotel is replete with tales of travel, exhilarating adventures, spiritual quests and journeys of self-discovery which have added to its legacy.
Om’s Home has hosted adventurers, trekkers, pilgrims, royalty, diplomats, films stars and directors. In 1991, Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, stayed at the hotel during the course of his visit to Nepal. Om’s Home has also hosted Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi and Danny Denzongpa during the shooting of the epic Bollywood movie – Khuda Gawah. Dialogues from the movie echoed in these halls as the film cast rehearsed their lines before delivering them in front of the camera. The famous Italian actor Danny Quinn also stayed at the hotel during the shooting of the popular film drama, The White Elephant. We are proud to have contributed to boosting film tourism in Nepal.
